I think regardless of whether its true, the refs and league brought this upon themselves. When you let the officiating deteriorate to the point where travelling, fouls, and carrying the ball occur on every play (at least one infraction) and you only call about 5% of them, then you are going to be scrutinized like this, and your motives for when you call those 5% comes into question. And, frankly, it should.

It seems common for the perennial bottom feeders to try to "copy" the playing style of current champion teams. What these teams need to look at is probably copying the management styles. Over the last 25 years the champs are: Lakers - 6, Bulls - 6, Spurs - 4, Pistons - 3, Boston - 2, Houston - 2, and the one hit wonder Heat.
